Network Upgrade for Brixton Sporting Club
Sustainability and equipment reuse are key considerations for businesses when upgrading their radio networks. At Chat-Com, we understand that new radio systems represent a significant investment, which is why making the most of existing equipment is often the most practical and cost-effective approach.
We were recently approached by the team at Brixton Sporting Club, who required an upgrade to their communications system to improve coverage during the busy shooting season. They already had a Motorola repeater and a set of handheld radios in use on site. Although the repeater was more than ten years old, we determined that servicing and reprogramming the existing equipment would significantly enhance performance, without the need for substantial investment in new hardware.
To achieve this, we installed a new high-gain UHF antenna to extend site coverage and reprogrammed the handheld radios to operate on new digital channels.
We welcome the challenge of refurbishment and reprogramming projects and actively encourage clients not to discard equipment solely due to its age. Where existing radios can be effectively reused, this represents a far more cost-effective and sustainable solution—benefiting both our clients and the environment.
The team at Brixton Sporting Club are now enjoying clear, reliable digital communication across the entire site, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the day.
If you have older radio equipment that you believe could be better utilised, we encourage you to get in touch. You may be surprised by what can be revitalised and improved to deliver many more years of dependable communication.
