Chat-Com Delivers Specialist Motorola ATEX Radio Solution for Glenfiddich Distillery

Dufftown, Scotland – Chat-Com has successfully delivered a specialist Motorola ATEX radio communications solution for the world-renowned Glenfiddich Distillery, helping to improve safety, communications and operational efficiency across key production areas.

Following a recommendation, Chat-Com was invited to work with the William Grant distillery team to assess and enhance communications within the site’s busy bottling hall and vat hall, where dependable communications are essential to maintaining safe and efficient operations.

Due to the nature of the distillery environment, intrinsically safe ATEX radios were required to meet the stringent safety standards associated with areas where high concentrations of alcohol are present. After assessing the operational requirements, Chat-Com recommended Motorola ATEX radios, a market-leading solution renowned for exceptional digital audio clarity, outstanding reliability and rugged performance in demanding industrial environments.

As part of the project, Chat-Com worked closely with teams across the distillery to understand the communication requirements of each department. Following a comprehensive site assessment, bespoke programming profiles were created for every radio, ensuring each user had access to the channels, talk groups and features best suited to their role. These intelligent safety functions can automatically raise an alert if a user becomes incapacitated or fails to respond to routine welfare checks, enabling a faster response should assistance be required.

To ensure a smooth transition to the new system, Chat-Com personally delivered the equipment to the distillery and provided comprehensive on-site training for staff. This hands-on approach ensured users were confident with the operation of the radios, understood the available safety features and could begin using the equipment immediately.
